The leprechaun aka “little man in the woods” is a diminutive supernatural being in Irish folklore, classed by some as a type of solitary fairy. They are usually depicted as little bearded men, wearing a coat and hat, who partake in mischief. Wikipedia

The ‘little man in the woods’ exercise, in which this monthly ruck workout is based, entails doing jumping jacks in a squat position. Add a weighted ruck and you got yourself a nasty smoke session.

So, in celebration of March and Saint Patrick’s Day, we decided to show the ‘little man in the woods’ a little affection. You’re going to love this. #GETSOME

The ‘Little Man in the Woods’ monthly ruck challenge is designed to resemble a SHAMROCK shape. In total, you will complete 4 miles rucking and 3 WOD’s targeting your upper, lower and core muscles.

LITTLE MAN IN THE WOODS - MONTHLY RUCK CHALLENGE

Start at your area of operations (AO)…

25 Little Man in the Woods (4-count) - see above for explanation
RUCK a 1-mile loop

WOD # 1 - Upper

3 sets of 10 reps (done with ruck):

• Push-Ups

• Overhead Press

• Triceps Extension

• Bent-over Row

WOD #2 - Lower

3 sets of 10 reps (done with ruck):

• Front Squat (ruck held straight out)

• Alternating Lunge (4-count)

• Calf Raises

• Mountain Climbers (4-count)

WOD #3 - Core

3 sets of 10 reps (done with ruck):

• Overhead Flutter Kicks (4-count)

• Russian Twist (4-count)

• Sit-Ups

• Plank (60-seconds)

NOTES: Ruck weight can vary. Typically, 20 pounds if you weight under 150; 30 pounds if you are over 150. Exercises can be done with or without weight. As always, modify as necessary.
