To fully understand, ‘IN THE TRENCHES’ one must understand - trench warfare. Trench warfare is a type of land warfare using occupied fighting lines largely comprising military trenches, in which troops are well-protected from the enemy's small arms fire and are substantially sheltered from artillery. Trench warfare became archetypically associated with World War I (1914–1918), when the Race to the Sea rapidly expanded trench use on the Western Front starting in September 1914 (Wikipedia).
IN THE TRENCHES is now used as a term that signifies… to have been through a lot together with someone. Specially through hard times (Urban Dictionary).

Here’s a WOD that will fit that description of being ‘IN THE TRENCHES.’

MONTHLY CHALLENGE
Buy In - 25 ruck push-ups
In each ‘round’ the exercises should total 11
(i.e. 10 flutter kicks + 1 squat).
Round 1
10 (4 ct.) flutter kicks w/ruck overhead
Low crawl 10-yards while dragging ruck
1 squat w/ruck
Bear crawl back 10-yards (ruck on)
Round 2
9 (4 ct.) flutter kicks w/ruck overhead
Low crawl 10-yards while dragging ruck
2 squat w/ruck
Bear crawl back 10-yards (ruck on)
Round 3
8 (4 ct.) flutter kicks w/ruck overhead
Low crawl 10-yards while dragging ruck
3 squat w/ruck
Bear crawl back 10-yards (ruck on)
Continue work until you hit 1 flutter kick and 10 squats. In total, there should be 10 rounds completed.
Buy Out - 25 ruck push-ups.

NOTES: Ruck weight can vary. Typically, 20 pounds if you weight under 150; 30 pounds if you are over 150. As always, modify as necessary.
